Dr. Travnicek has over 12 years of research and work experience within the natural resources, energy, agriculture, communication, aviation, UAS, and public policy fields. She has advised and worked with top ranked elected officials and industry leaders throughout North Dakota on strategic planning, government relations, communication, risk management, disaster recovery, and regulatory processes. Dr. Travnicek has experience working with state and federal agencies both within state and nation-wide. Additionally, she has Washington, D.C. and international experience.
Dr. Travnicek has a reputation for building strong relationships, being trustworthy, and having the ability to research and navigate complex issues. In addition, her ability to work through different and sometimes competing regulatory frameworks from both a technical and political perspective is unique. Dr. Travnicek has also negotiated on water issues at the state, federal, international, and tribal level.
Prior to joining LGN, Dr. Travnicek was appointed as a Senior Policy Advisor by Governor Hoeven and Governor Dalrymple in North Dakota. In her role she was responsible for compiling information from multiple stakeholders on various issues throughout the state and assessing and providing direction for decision makers related to project development, legislation and regulations at the state and national level. She holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resources Management/Communication and has professional experience working in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Specifically prior to her appointment, Dr. Travnicek was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Sacramento, Calif., and worked for a small environmental consulting firm in Bismarck and Ducks Unlimited in Washington, DC.
Dr. Travnicek was selected as one of North Dakota’s Business Watch 40 Under 40 in 2011. She was recently profiled in the July 2016 Bison Illustrated Magazine and received the Distinguished Alumni Award from North Dakota State University’s College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources in November 2016. Dr. Travnicek was also nominated and selected as a delegate through the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) to attend an international exchange to the country of Turkey in September 2015.
