Federal Relations

Megan G. Knight provides clients of the Lockridge Grindal Nauen Federal Relations Group a unique and highly developed skill set focused on the fields of healthcare, human services, and academia. Ms. Knight has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, including more than a decade of public policy advocacy with Lockridge Grindal Nauen, navigating the intricacies of the federal government and the multiple challenges inherent in the legislative process. She offers her clients a clear focus and keen understanding of the implications of federal legislation and related regulatory policy initiatives.

Ms. Knight joined the firm following extensive experience in a number of health policy positions first as a health analyst for the Republican Minnesota Senate Republican Legislative Caucus and as a policy fellow for the National Institute of Health Policy, under the direction of former U.S. Senator David Durenberger and Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee's Subcommittee on Health. Chairman Durenberger and the Institute are recognized national leaders on the challenges facing the American healthcare delivery system policy and establishing sustainable financing mechanism.

Megan has a proven track record of success as a coalition manager and has successfully coordinated the efforts of a broad coalition of health delivery systems and self-insured companies from across the country adversely impacted by regulations included in the Affordable Care Act (AVA). Clients regularly rely on Ms. Knight's expertise across a spectrum of key issues, from health care and human services, higher education, labor, and pension issues. Her deep legislative and policy experience provide unique insights for firm clients into the intersection of Capitol Hill, advocacy groups, and the private sector stakeholders.

When a coalition of firm clients faced severe federal regulatory challenges, potentially resulting in the loss of millions of dollars in critical federal funding, Ms. Knight successfully led the fight to preserve the program funding, which provides medical, social, and education services to citizens and communities across the United States. Her success resulted in significant savings for states while securing at-risk federal funds for her numerous clients. Megan charted the strategy and successfully fought for the preservation of these funds with bipartisan support across Congress, and assisted in successfully moving the Administration to support the legislation.

Ms. Knight, a Chicago native, resides in Arlington, Virginia with her husband and two daughters. She is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with a bachelor's degree in Political Science.
