Overview

Robert K. Shelquist, a partner in the firm, is a trial attorney who practices in the areas of products liability, business litigation, securities, environmental law and antitrust. Much of Mr. Shelquist's plaintiff practice consists of complex litigation, consumer fraud, and securities, and he has defended actions involving claims of product liability, toxic torts and contracts. A 1987 graduate of the University of California at Berkeley with a double major in legal studies and political science, with high honors, Mr. Shelquist was elected to the Golden Key Society. He received his J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, cum laude, in 1990.

Mr. Shelquist has represented farmers, small businesses and individuals in complex class actions on their behalf in both state and federal court. In Peterson v. BASF Corp., Mr. Shelquist was court-appointed class counsel and was one of the trial attorneys who secured a jury verdict for a nation-wide class seeking redress for defendantÂ’s marketing of its herbicide products. After multiple state appellate opinions and two trips to the U.S. Supreme Court, a judgment in excess of $60,000,000 was paid.
