About
The Lockridge Grindal Nauen (LGN) communications and grassroots advocacy team has experience running public relations and grassroots advocacy campaigns to influence elected officials in Minnesota as well as to move the needle with the public on issues impacting their lives and livelihoods.
Our communications team uses a variety of tools and strategies to elevate the needs of our clients – including through earned media, e-mails directly to legislators through our advocacy technology, and organizing “Day at the Capitol” events to ensure elected officials hear our message and our clients loud and clear.
Additionally, the LGN communications and grassroots advocacy team has experience with messaging in a wide array of policy issues including healthcare, education, transportation, commerce, public safety, workforce development, and local government.
As it relates to our work at the legislature, the LGN communications grassroots advocacy team plans and executes around 10 “Day at the Capitol” events each session. Our largest event included organizing 275 attendees to meet with legislators, committee chairs, and all four legislative leaders in a single day.
Recognizing that constituent-based communication is the most effective way to influence a legislator, we utilize our Voter Voice program for clients that allows for advocates to send a pre-written customizable message to their state representative and state senator to make their voice heard proposals coming before committees and the floor – including on changes to alcohol laws, scope of practice changes for healthcare professionals, and supporting funding for critical needs.
Our work running public relations campaigns to influence elected officials has included placing multiple opinion pieces in newspapers across the state, recruiting trade associations to join our coalition, placing calls from “grasstop” individuals into elected officials’ offices, and asking advocates to utilize social media to relay our message to targeted elected officials.
The LGN communications and grassroots advocacy team works collaboratively with the broader state government relations team and have a track record of success. Our large team has relationships in every corner of the state with a wide variety of constituencies that we use on our clients’ behalf.
