Alex T. Hassel
Overview
Alex is an experienced advocate for local governments and has been representing cities in state government since 2018. Prior to joining LGN, Ms. Hassel served as an Intergovernmental Relations Representative for the League of Minnesota Cities. Ms. Hassel has represented cities on issues including employment and labor law, elections administration, taxes, adult-use cannabis, and other regulated industries. She is known at the State Capitol for her knowledge of local government issues and her ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders to identify legislative solutions.
Ms. Hassel previously represented the City of Des Moines at the Iowa Legislature, along with contributing to city policy development. Ms. Hassel has completed the Iowa Certified Public Manager program and earned a B.A. in environmental policy from Drake University.
